Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is committed to making Kampala city admirable and a city place for all people.

It’s now two consecutive days when the military police and KCCA enforcement team under the directive of Resident City Commissioner –RCC Hudu Hussein have swept all vendors and hawkers off the streets of Kampala city.

Dorothy Kisaka, the Executive Director of KCCA while addressing USAFI Market traders and Taxi drivers in a meeting organized by USAFI leadership on how to  improve the working conditions in the market and the park, said that KCCA has come up with a ‘Smart City’ initiative to make sure that Kampala city is clean, admired locally and internationally.

Kisaka adds that no illegal vending will take place anymore in Kampala and advised boda boda riders and tax drivers who are illegally operating in ungazetted places within Kampala city to go into gazetted areas before the situation turns dark.

The traders in USAFI market and the leadership of the Taxi Park pointed out some challenges including a fence which was put as a boundary on the side of Katwe road saying that it blocks customers from having a clear view of goods in the market.

Taxi drivers have pointed out a problem of illegal taxi stages operating on road sides that must be worked urgently, although Medi Nsubuga, the Kisenyi III councilor from the National Unity Platform NUP says problems in USAFI market and Taxi Park are still far from getting resolved.

Kisaka has assured traders in USAFI Market and the leadership of USAFI Taxi Park that their problems are going to be worked on as soon as possible, calling for calm and cooperation.
