The Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago Ssalongo wants all health center III facilities phased out from Kampala City.

This was while handing over to Mayors of the five divisions, seven ambulances that are added to KCCA fleet of 12 ambulances in Kampala.

Lukwago says it’s the right time the health centers got upgraded to health centre IVs, and get equipped with full time health staff to offer better health services to the people.

Of the 7 ambulances that have been purchased by KCCA to a tune of about Shs1.6 billion with each costing to at least Sh 230 Million, five of them will be stationed at various hospitals within the divisions and 2 will remain at city hall.

Lukwago further noted that Kampala needs 70 ambulances but urged his colleagues at the divisional level to ensure that the ambulances are put to proper use.

The Director Public Health at KCCA Dr. Daniel Okello revealed that they have bought two types of ambulances of which 5 have type B with the basic life support and 1 which is a type C that can support patients who are in critical condition.

The Makindye Division Mayor, Ali Kasirye Nganda Mulyanyama pledged to monitor the use of the 2 ambulances that each division is to receive.
