The National Resistance Movement-NRM leaders in Kayunga are demanding funds for mobilization in the LCV Chairperson by-election.
Last month, the Electoral Commission set December 16, 2021, as the election date for the by-election. The seat fell vacant after Ffefeka Sserubugo, the LCV Chairperson for Kayunga district, was found dead. His body was found hanging by the tree, near his home in Kayunga.
Although the party has not yet revealed its budget for the election, the district party leaders have warned the NRM Secretariat against snubbing them.
Kaggwa Kasolo, the Kayunga Town Council NRM Chairperson says that they risk losing the seat if the campaign funds are not availed.
Diriisa Kimbugwe, a mobiliser at Busaana criticizes the secretariat for selecting non-residents in the area to lead the teams canvassing for votes of their flag bearer.
The Director of Mobilization, Cadre identification, Recruitment and Placement at the NRM Secretariat Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde says the secretariat plans to camp in the district to woo residents to the NRM party and win the by election.
While Richard Todwong, the NRM Secretary General Richard says reclaiming NRM support will continue in other parts of the country after the Kayunga by-election.
