Police have confirmed that a number of leaders attached to the National Unity Platform were intercepted and some arrested in connection to the mobilization of people to participate in the stay home protests against the skyrocketing prices of commodities and fuel.

 

According to police some leaders yesterday some of the National Unity Platform leaders including councilors from Kawempe were found yesterday trying to mobilize people within the division stopping them from opening up shops but to stay home starting from today to Wednesday.

 

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that the arrested NUP leaders include Emmanuel Sserunjogi the Mayor of Kawempe division, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu the NUP National Mobilizer, Dennis Ssenono alias Density, Thomas Bagonza, Sharon Kemigisha, Muhammad Nsubuga.

 

Enanga says that they will continue to monitor the security situation within their various territorial policing areas especially within Kampala as they wait to charge the arrested suspect.
