The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala this Monday evening at his residence in Nsambya.

Mayiga’s visit was to commiserate with the Cardinal for the death of his young brother Monsignor Henry Kyabukasa, a former at Bukalasa Seminary who died last month.

Msgr. Kyabukasa who has spent nearly all his life training priests at Bukalasa Minor Seminary in Masaka Diocese died at the age of 91.

During the visitation, the host Cardinal Wamala expressed gratitude for the gesture and thanked Mayiga fulfilling his responsibilities as the Katikkiro of Buganda and also appreciated the Kabaka of Buganda for the wise counsel and development towards the Kingdom.

Delivering his speech, the Katikkiro Mayiga extended condolences for the loss of Msgr. Kyabukasa, a Priest who served with humility and also prayed that God continues to protect Cardinal Wamala live and safe.

Cardinal Wamala used the same opportunity to inform Katikkiro that he will be celebrating 40 years as a Bishop and 27 years as a Cardinal respectively this month.

The celebrations will be on November 22nd and 26th this year.

Cardinal Wamala 94, was born on 15th December 1926 in Kamaggwa Masaka, ordained a priest on 21 December 1957, in Rome, he was appointed as Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana on 17 July 1981, and consecrated on 22 November 1981 by Cardinal Emmanuel Nsubuga.

On 21 June 1988 he was promoted to the rank of Coadjutor Bishop of Kampala and On 8 February 1990, he succeeded Cardinal Nsubuga.
