The Minister for Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero has today commissioned the renovation and expansion works of Kambuga Hospital in Kanungu District.
This is the hospital from where in January this year the Minister for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and National Guidance, Dr Chris Baryomunsi was airlifted to Kampala after developing health complications.
According to the photos circulated on social media after the incident, Kambuga hospital which was constructed in 1965 was seen in sorry state with the building structures looking weak and the ceilings falling, posing a threat to the patients.
While appearing before the Parliamentary Budget Committee in January, the State Minister for Finance in charge of General Duties Henry Musasizi revealed that Shs20 billion had been allocated in the budget to rehabilitate Kambuga Hospital.
Accompanied by her counterpart Dr Baryomunsi, Minister Aceng first participated in the ground breaking ceremony of construction works at Kirima Health Center III in Kanungu district before exceeding to Kambugu hospital.
Dr Aceng noted that they have revised the structures of allocation of health workers, hoping that in the financial year 2024/2025, the ministry will recruit about 80 workers in health center IIIs.
