The Kampala City Traders Association-KACITA has scheduled a meeting with the Commissioner General Uganda Revenue Authority-URA, John Musinguzi on Monday next week to discuss and find solutions for the long standing problems faced by the traders.

Addressing the press at their offices in Kampala, the KACITA Chairman Thaddeus Musoke revealed that they have been receiving numerous concerns from the business community regarding the abnormal and unrealistic tax assessments and the approach used by the tax officers which has disrupted many businesses and caused commotion in their business premises.

He cites incidents where the tax enforcement team uses the Uganda Peoples Defense Force (UPDF) soldiers and police personnel on ordinary taxpayers which portray a negative image.

At the same conference, the URA Assistant Commissioner Public and Corporate Affairs, Ibrahim Bossa has noted that URA has never wanted to use force but some taxpayers who evade taxes sometimes force them to do so.

Bbosa also reiterated that traders who will pay their principal by 31st December 2023 shall not pay interest, penalties and fines as it was well stated during the budget reading.
