Members of the Buganda Parliament known as Lukiiko have put to task the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga to explain President Museveni’s move to buy land for Clan leaders along the Royal mile in Mengo.

The concern has been raised by Henry Mubiru Kasakya representing Suubi Lyabuganda, Owek Noah Kawuma while Representing  Bugerere county  and Fatumah Namugala of Mawogola county  who questioned the capacity through which some clan leaders secured audience with President Museveni to an extent that he intends to buy for them land along the Royal Mile.

Last week one of the local dailies reported that President Museveni bought a land measuring 2.2 Acres along Kabak’anjagala road in Rubaga division worth Shs9.7bn for Buganda clan leader or the Bataka in fulfillment of his promise he took in March this year after meeting them at State House Entebbe.

Kasakya says it’s so tempting for the clan leaders to pay their loyalty to a politician, and put the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga to task to explain to Lukiiko about this plot because it threatens the stability of Buganda Kingdom.

In response, the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga dismissed all allegations accusing him of being aware of this plot saying that an inquiry has been instituted to establish the facts behind it thus warning against such plots saying it could lead the throne to danger.

Mayiga also denied allegations that Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II is aware of the plan.

Meanwhile, Katikkiro Mayiga appealed to Chief Justice Alfonso Owinyi Dollo to allude to his Majesty the Kabaka’s plea to engage with magistrates to speed up matters related to land wrangles to settle land disputes for peace and stability.
