Journalists have threatened to drag their employers to the courts of law for failure to pay them.

This call has been made by Abubaker Lubowa, a practicing journalist and an activist of journalists’ rights during a press conference in Kampala that media house owners have to remunerate journalists well in a bid to promote press freedom in the country.

He has disclosed that they have partnered with lawyers who are going to help all journalists who are not paid to get justice and they today join their colleagues from across the world to commemorate this year’s annual World Press Freedom Day under the theme; “Journalism Under Digital Siege”.

However, some journalists have supported this decision although they have asked for dialogue before going to court.

Meanwhile, Lubowa has urged the security forces in Uganda to come up with guidelines and training for journalists on the issues to follow in riotous situations instead of beating them as they go about with their work.
