The Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) has called upon media company owners to provide journalists with coronavirus preventive gadgets to avoid infections once cases are confirmed in the country.

Ronald Kabuye, the UJA Spokesperson during the press conference at their offices in Kawempe said since journalists move in all parts of the country to report about COVID-19, it puts them at risk of acquiring the disease.

Kabuye adds that although some media houses have provided primary preventive materials like sanitizers, water and soap for hand washing at the stations but it’s safer when field reporters are provided with individual disinfectants, facemasks among others while on their duty.

By Friday, Uganda was still safe with no confirmed COVID-19 case amid scores reported in 166 countries with the pandemic.
