Interpretations and different studies that continue to emerge about the infection and transmission of COVID-19, must be taken keenly to avoid leading the world into problems, Health experts warn.

A top World Health Organisation Official Maria Van Kerkhove clarified on Tuesday that scientists have not determined yet how frequently people with asymptomatic cases of Covid-19 pass the disease on to others, a day after suggesting that such spread is “very rare.”

The clarification comes after the WHO’s original comments incited strong pushback from outside public health experts, who suggested the agency had erred, or at least miscommunicated, when it said people who didn’t show symptoms were unlikely to spread the virus.

Dr. Ronald Kasyaba a medical consultant at the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau Nsambya says, the whole problem of Coronavirus is under study, no person can claim to know it fully, however medical experts have one point and that is to find cure for the disease or the pandemic.

Dr. Kasyaba says the first preventive measure is to help the world know how to live with the virus, prevent acquiring it, prevent transmitting it, until such a time when three things can happen; when either a vaccine has been gotten and immunize those who have no immunity or a medication is got for those who get severe illness and such a person is treated with a drug to kill the virus and thirdly having health care centers fully equipped and capable to handle any COVID-19 case.

He further clarifies that the lockdown announced in the world on the advise of WHO, was meant to assist governments to look through and ensure that their health systems are upgraded to handle such a pandemic. Now that countries are easing the restrictions, its hard to force people back into the lockdown given its hardships so far experienced by the people.

Globally, the disease has so far claimed more than half a million lives and infected close to 11 million others since its outbreak in December 2019.

In Uganda the case of COVID-19 stands at 902, with 188 active ones, 847 recoveries and no death as of now. 1042 foreign truck drivers have since been exited.
