The Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura has appointed AIGP Abaas Byakagaba as the new Director of Human Resources development in the Uganda Police Force a position that fell vacant following the assassination of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi in March this year.

The announcement of the new appointments including other six officers was received through a radio message with Moses Kafeero replacing Byakagaba at the Police Senior Command College Bwebajja after completing a training course in Rwanda.

AIGP Haruna Isabirye who has been the commandant of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit was appointed the Director Welfare and Production replacing Elizabeth Muwanga who retired a month ago.

Fenny Kyomukama, who has been a commissioner in the Field Force Police Unit, has been appointed the news ASTU commandant while AIGP Andrew Sorowen, who has been Director in charge of Special Duties, is the new the Police Sports Liaison Officer with the Education and Sports Ministry and Emmanuel Mukama from Somalia has been transferred to VIPPU. The changes take immediate effect.
