IDEA challenges VLS distribution system

As the country draw closer to the polling date, the Innovation for Democratic Engagement and Actor (IDEA), a civil society organization has expressed it worry over the distribution method of the Voter Location Slips by the Electoral Commission.

Voter Location Slip is a small document that has particulars, locations and directions for voter to a specific polling station and their distribution exercise commenced on Sunday 3rd and expected to end on January 12 at the parish level in the whole country.

The Director for IDEA Job Kiija says that they have got information indicating that Voter Location Slips are distributed by the Local Council One Chairpersons with some being accompanied by money amounting to 3000shs and instructions of voting a certain candidate, which is a sign of voter bribery.

Kiija further noticed that some people are appearing on more than one VLS which is a sign of having people voting in more than one.

Meanwhile, Kiija called on government to come out and ensure Ugandans that it is in charge of this country by exposing those involved in kidnaps, abductions and killing of Ugandans in different parts of the country.
