The Catholic Church world over has today celebrated the Holy Family Day that falls on the first Sunday after Christmas between December 26th and 6th January.

The day is taken by the Catholics to reflect on the virtues of a family as represented by Mary, Joseph and Jesus.

The readings of the day also helped Catholics to reflect on the responsibilities of each member of the family the mother, father and children each contributing to the greater good of the family unit.

In the reflections most priests demanded parents to be more careful because many are losing their roles; fathers abandoning their families, mothers now preferring single life and having multiple partners and the children are left to the sympathisers to take care of them.

Such behaviour and recklessness threatens the family the foundation of the Catholic Church and the society.

The Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Kampala Fr.  Henry Mubiru while leading the mass of the Holy Family day at Lubaga Cathedral, he challenged Young people to respect their parents love and help them in their old age if they are to get parental blessings.

He also asked parents to borrow a leaf from St Joseph and Mary who fulfilled their responsibility for their son Jesus.

In Kampala Archdiocese the day has always been celebrated from the Martyrs Shrine Namugongo or Munyonyo but due to the existence of Covid-19, the day was observed at the parish level with strict observance of the SOPs.
