The Hearing of the iron sheets case against the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Agnes  Nandutu has been scheduled to kick start on 27th/July/2023 before Judge Jane Kajuga of the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court in Kampala.

According to Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya the parties in this case including the accused Minister and her Lawyers have appeared before a Grade One Magistrate Esther Asiimwe and agreed on the said date for the trial to kick off.

On Tuesday, the matter came for mention at the Anti-Corruption court.

Nandutu is battling charges of dealing with suspect property of iron sheet she allegedly received from the Prime Minister’s Office at Namanve stores in Mukono District and were meant to benefit the vulnerable people of Karamoja; but they were instead found at her farm in Kkola Cell Bulwanyi Parish  Mukono District.

The 2,000 pre-painted iron sheets Gauge 28 were allegedly received by Nandutu in June/2022.

According to the Prosecution, Nandutu had reason to believe the iron sheets were acquired as a result of loss of public property, an offence under the Anti-Corruption Act.

However she denied the charges and is now waiting for the DPP to bring evidence to this effect.
