Government is planning to distribute the procured Johnson and Johnson –J&J vaccines to hard to reach areas and people in the islands and highland areas.

 

Early this month, Ministry of Health together with the National Medical Stores –NMS received the first batch of 196,800 doses of the vaccine at Entebbe International Airport with more 9 million doses of the government procured J&J vaccine expected to be received before the end of December this year.

 

Facilitating the Solution journalism training for Health Journalists Network in Uganda- HEJNU in Kampala this Monday, Dr. Daniel Kyabayinze, the Epidemiologist at the Health Ministry says that they resolve to administer J&J to people like fishermen and pastoralists among others that are hard to get since the vaccine only needs one jab.

 

He says that the exercise of vaccinating these categories of people would commence around November 15 this year since the vaccines areas to be dispatched early next month.

 

Meanwhile, Kyabayinze has refuted allegations that Covid-19 vaccines affects erect dysfunction and also cause infertility among men saying that there is no scientific relationship between the vaccines and the human fertility.
