Merging of Government Agencies, Commissions and Authorities Starts July 1st 2021 according to the State Minister for Public Service David Karubanga.

 

He revealed this to journalists on Thursday in Kampala saying that this is being done to save tax payers’ money that is being wasted on maintaining these agencies and commissions.

 

Karubanga adds that the process will take a period of two years and in the first year about 988 billion Shillings will be saved.

 

He further disclosed that workers in agencies and commissions that will be merged will maintain their jobs and those from agencies that may be dissolved will be compensated to start a new life.

 

Some of the agencies, authorities and commissions to be affected by this exercise include; the National Environmental Management Authority-NEMA which is to be relocated to the Ministry of Water and Environment, the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) to merge with the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), the Insurance Regulatory Authority is to be sent to Bank of Uganda, Uganda Investment Authority to the Ministry of Trade among others.
