Government has confirmed the detention of the five National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters claimed to have been killed.

This has been confirmed by the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja immediately after a joint meeting mediated by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa between Government officials and the Opposition side led by the Leader of Opposition Matthias Mpuuga.

The five persons claimed to have been killed by the security agencies include: Kaweesa Ivan Ddamulira, Kuteesa Solo, Ssembatya Vincent, Ssengendo Peter Mugabi, and Kato Hussein.

Nabanjja further attributed the delay in the finding of NUP supporters claimed to have been killed by the government due to the opposition failure to provide details of the suspect.

She said that most of the NUP suspects were proven to be hardcore criminals and some have either been aligned in courts law while others are serving their sentences.

Meanwhile, the leader of opposition Mpuuga says that since the government has confirmed the arrest of NUP supporters, they should now account for the brutalities and the whereabouts of those still missing.
