Officers from Kiira regional police command, alongside their counterparts from Busoga East, have confirmed the arrest of five people suspected to have participated in the killing of 26-year-old, Tadeo Ssemanda. 

The suspects are currently detained at different police stations across Kiira police region.

Ssemanda, a trucker of a transnational trailer with registration number; UBD 061E and UBD 300A, was over the weekend killed and his body abandoned in the trailer cabin in Wairaka trading center of Jinja district, along the Jinja-Iganga highway.

The assailants are suspected to have trailed Ssemanda from Tororo municipality, where he departed at around 9:30pm enroute to Kampala with 620 bags of Cement, and intercepted him in Bugiri Municipality.

Available information indicates that Ssemanda is suspected to have been killed from Namasoga trading center, in Iganga district, where the trailer parked for two hours and 14 minutes, before being driven to Wairaka as a cover-up.

The 620 bags of Cement were all recovered from different trading centers in Iganga district.

The Kiira region police spokesperson, James Mubi confirms the arrests, adding that others are still at large however efforts of tracking them down are underway.
