The Government of Uganda is committed to implement 15 historical projects within the oil rich region of Hoima in south western Uganda.

The projects planned on a 29.9 Square Kilometer area currently include; the Kabalega International Airport that is almost 98% complete which is one of the major projects in the Kabalega Industrial Park, the Oil and Gas Refinery, heavy, medium and small industries to support income activities, schools, hospitals and water facilities, hotels among others.

The 1,445 km stretch of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline from Hoima to Tanga in Tanzania is part of the bigger project that is to transport the 60,000 barrels of crude oil expected to be extracted on the daily basis from the Tilenga and Kingfisher oil wells.

The bigger oil pipeline will move along with a smaller pipeline that is to transport Uganda’s refined oil from Hoima up to Namwabula in Mpigi district where the country’s storage terminal is to be constructed on a 300 acre piece of land.

All these developments are planned in the next five year after the opening of the Kabelega International Airport expected in October this year.

This has been revealed by the Manager Corporate Affairs at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, Gloria Ssebikaali during a fact finding mission with members of the press in Hoima.

Meanwhile, Sarah Banage the Corporate Affairs Manager Uganda National Oil Company assured Ugandans that the country will have its first oil drop as planned by 2025.
