The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has unveiled Emmanuel Eratu as the party’s flag bearer for the Serere County by-election.

The position fell vacant following the death of Member of Parliament Patrick Okabe in a road accident of 19th December 2022.

While unveiling the candidate during a media briefing on Monday at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, the FDC President Patrick Amuriat identified Eratu as a seasoned politician and an outstanding citizen that can transform legislation in the National Assembly.

Amuriat added that the party approved Eratu and is expected to be nominated on February 9th 2023 ahead of the by-election on the 23rd of the same month.

Eratu contested as an independent candidate against the late MP Okabe in the 2021 elections where he went forth with 1,035 votes compared to the late MP’s 17,826 votes.

Last week, the Alliance for National Transformation –ANT leadership unveiled former Serere district woman MP Alice Alaso as the party’s flag bearer in the by-election.
