The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change FDC are still held up in the party election at the Mandela national stadium Namboole where by this evening they will have decided on the next party president.

Elections started at 3pm delayed by three hours due to rains that disrupted delegates’ movement.

Agents for the front runners for the party presidency Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu and Patrick Amuriat Oboi known as POA, were at the center stage of the last minute campaigns this morning and the candidates promised to unit and strengthen grass route structures.

Other candidates for the same seat are Moses Byamugisha and Malcolm Dan Matsiko.

A total of 1,209 delegates are participating in the election amidst tight security manned by the police.

Today’s delegates conference will also elect the Deputy Treasurer (Mobilization) and the Secretary for Labour.

Buhweju County Member of Parliament Francis Mwijukye and Amuru Woman MP Lucy Akello are the two candidates for Deputy Treasurer (Mobilization).

The party Deputy Publicity Secretary Paul Mwiru said the exercise has been smooth without any shortfall however he warns any delegate against acting to the contrary.
