Speaking at the launch, the Minister for Water and Environment Beatrice Anywar said that the act is to help enforce environmental protection in the country.

She further warns that the current rate at which the environment is wasted by Ugandans is alarming and pauses great threat to the future of Uganda’s sustainability and growths.

However, the Executive Director of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) Tom Okurut notes that, they are to start using scientific risk environment assessment to help profile environmental hazards across the country for better solutions.

This year’s World Environment day celebrations are globally and nationally marked under the themes, “Time for Nature” and “Nature is speaking, Listen.” respectively.
