Uganda Episcopal Conference has expressed the need for full understanding of the Declaration ‘Fiducia Supplicans on the Pastoral Meaning of Blessings.
In his Christmas message at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat this morning the Bishop Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev. Joseph Antony Zziwa has clarified that the declaration produced by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome does not replace or change the way the Catholic Church has always celebrated the blessing of the sacrament of holy matrimony.
He explained that the declaration is clear that one can be blessed for self examination and faith to do right but no blessing has been accepted to unit members of the same sex.
He adds that those misinforming and amplifying such statements are self seekers and enemies of the church emphasizing that no where will the Catholic Church ever divert from its teaching on marriage and procreation.
Bishop Zziwa has encouraged the entire public and religious leaders to interest themselves with the document that is readily available on the Vatican website to help the public understand better.
