The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the country of no election disruption by the Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and plain clothed security officers in 2026 general elections.

Justice Simon Byabakama, the EC Chairperson said this while speaking to Journalists at the Commission’s headquarters in Kampala after the three hours consultative meeting with the members of the Uganda’s National Consultative Forum today.

Byabakama says that through the Minister for Presidency Milky Babalanda, they have embarked on meeting the RDCs stopping them from engaging in election violence but instead work with the NCF and security in ensuring peace where they could have detected disruptions.

He further says that the issue of numberless vehicles that are normally sighted at election centers causing violence and other electoral malpractices will be addressed before the general elections.

Jolly Mugisha Kamukama, the Vice Chairperson of NCF believes that such meetings will resolve the grievances that political parties have been raising from the past general and by-elections in the country.
