The Electoral Commission Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama has warned supporters of all the candidates for Kyadondo East parliamentary by-elections against wearing their campaign T-shirts or carrying around flyers with intentions of mobilizing support, saying it is contrary to electoral laws.

While meeting candidate’s agents at Kasangati a head of the Kyadondo East parliamentary elections, Justice Byabakama says also warns candidates against playing loud music promoting their agenda, saying their equipment will be impounded from any voter as he accesses the polling center during the Kyadondo East MP by elections that is taking place on Thursday June 29th .

Five candidates are vying for the Kyadondo East MP seat. They include the National Resistance Movement candidate, Sitenda Sebalu, FDC’s Apollo Kantinti, independents; Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi wine, Muwada Nkunyingi and Sowedi Kayongo Male.

He however, lauds the candidates for appealing to their candidates to stay calm and vote peacefully.

EC further announced plans to pull down candidate’s campaign posters saying the move is in line with the electoral law and aimed at ensuring that voters are not influenced by the images, which are found at almost all the 93 polling stations in the constituency.

Justice Byamukama explains that the candidates should have removed their posters at the end of the campaigns period, but since they didn’t do it, the Commission will do the cleanup so as to eliminate any room for electoral malpractices.
