Taxi drivers under their umbrella body Kampala Operation Taxi Stages Association (KOTISA) have petitioned the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga protesting the sale of old taxi park without consulting them.

Led by the Amalgamated transport and general workers Union and the members of Parliament representing workers including Margaret Rwobushaija, Kunihira Agnes, Charles Bakkabulindi and Alinaitwe Rwakajara, their chairman Yasin Ssematimba noted failure to get attention from the ministries; works and transport, local government and KCCA who are said to be responsible for the sale of the old taxi park.

In 2005, the Town Clerk of Kampala, James Seggane, is reported to have written to the traders ordering them to leave the taxi park by the December saying that plots along the Old Taxi Park were sold to investors who demanded to occupy them with effect from January 2006.

Among other issues presented include over taxation of 28,000/= per seat per year, and 103,000 shillings for vehicle inspection every after six months and calling for amendments in the law on driving permits which they say are all unfair for their operations.

However, Kadaga directed the committee of infrastructure to handle the matters of these taxi drivers.
