Democratic Party (DP) has welcomed back its former Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) members who deserted the party, to form a united front to takeover government.

The campaign started by fishing back the former UYD members include, the Butambala Member of Parliament, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, Social Democratic Party (SDP) President Michael Mabikke, Bukoto East MP Florence Namayanja, Masaka Municipality MP Mathis Mpuuga and Sam Lubega Mukaaku among others.

According to our sources, the reconciliation has been reached upon and disclosed before the media at Speak hotel in Kampala after several engagements for the last couple of months between the leadership of DP President Norbert Mao and these people.

Addressing the press, Muwanga who is the former UYD Chairman says that their return to DP is a first step of liberating the country from land grabbers, kidnappers, murders and economic exploitation among other challenges that must be confronted together as democratic leaders.

On the past failed reunions, Muwanga says they have learnt their mistakes and are ready for a united cause to end President Yoweri Museveni’s regime.

However, Mao embraces the reunion saying the party will continue holding reconciliation meetings for the homecomings of other members like the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke among others.
