The Democratic Party-DP has set 20th April 2024 to hold its Delegates’ Conference to elect party members ahead of the 2026 general elections.

While addressing journalists at party headquarters at City House in Kampala, Gerald Siranda, the party Secretary General said that the program for party primaries ahead of the Delegates’ Conference already started in August this year and will climax in December 2023.

Siranda adds that they are going to register new members starting from villages as well as re-registering those who had left the party and want to return saying those who will miss this opportunity should not regret.

They have decided to hold the Delegates’ Conference early to avoid confusion which arose last time in 2021 where they nominated candidates amidst campaigns of the general elections.

Meanwhile, Siranda has congratulated the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party upon holding a successful Delegates’ Conference that he believes brought to an end the internal conflicts within the party.
