Local government leaders have decried poor remunerations as a hindrance to quality service delivery.

Patrick Mugisha, the Chairman Mityana District told the media in Kampala this Friday that LCV Chairpersons are paid peanuts yet they are loaded with a lot of work in comparison to any public servant.

He says that this has hindered the monitoring of the district projects due to failure to reach out to all areas, leading to poor service delivery.

Mugisha explains that the low pay has forced many District Chairpersons into being compromised and indulged in corruption which is costing the tax payer’s money.

He has however called on the government to increase salaries of public servants to enable them deliver services effectively especially in this situation where the cost of living is high.

Abel Bizimana, the LCV Chairperson Kisoro district has condemned the government for failing to include district chairmen in the process of Parish Model initiative, saying it is going to flop since the right people to monitor it have been left out.
