The Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa has summoned Committee Chairperson and their Deputies for a meeting over the accountability reports meant to be presented to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The IMF demands for resolution of the treasury memorandum and the Auditor Generals’ reports for accountability purposes.

The treasury memorandum is prepared based on the reports of the accountability committees of parliament; however, the accountability committee reports relating to the Auditor Generals’ reports of the preceding year will not have been concluded by the submission of the annual budget.

The Chief Opposition Whip John Baptist Nambeshe says Tayebwa wants the Chairpersons and Deputy Chairperson to compile the Accountability committee reports and Auditor Generals’ reports to be quickly presented to IMF.

Paulson Ssemakula Lutamaguzi – the PAC Local Government Committee Deputy Chairperson says the budget for these committees and other committees were cut, he suspects that the meeting has been convened to discuss on the way forward about this matter on whether the funds for Accountability committees of parliament can be maintained.
