Government says it will lift Curfew next week to enable students travelling back to school as learning for all classes opens on January 10th.

The Minister of Works and Transport General Katumba while addressing journalists at the Uganda media center today said that traffic jam and congestion will definitely arise as students are returning back to school and it will be difficult for the transporters to beat curfew time so it’s wise to lift it only for motor vehicles to facilitate the smooth movement of parents and students.

Katumba adds that drivers will not be panicking and over speeding to ensure safety on the road.

However he has advised parents and guardians to avoid sending children alone to school because conmen are also targeting this season to steal even when police and sister security agencies are in place to assist students move safely.

Meanwhile Katumba has warned transport operators mainly drivers and conductors who have not yet received their Covid – 19 vaccinations jabs that they are not allowed to carry passengers.
