Police have committed to ensure that all criminals in Kampala spend their festive month of December in jails to allow people to enjoy their Christmas and New Year celebrations.
This comes after the Director of Operations recently launched the police safe campaign which was stepped up by the Kampala Metropolitan Police led by the commandant the Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Stephen Tanui against opportunistic criminals that normally criminalizes the public during this period.
Fred Enanga says that criminals and fraudsters are ever busy in this period by targeting mobile money attendants, traders, village Saccos, cattle traders and travelers among others.
He further says that they are working with the Kampala City Traders Association Uganda (KACITA) and other district business associations to provide advice in crime prevention measures and also patrol their business premises to deter all criminal elements.
Enanga says that the Police keep a close eye on some of the black spot areas where communities are more vulnerable to opportunistic thieves.
