Ministry of Health is considering identifying a specific place for journalists to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Last week, Uganda rolled out the first phase of a nationwide Covid-19 vaccination after receiving a second batch of 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 7 from the government of India as a donation, to add onto the initial acquisition of 864,000 doses through the Covid-19 Vaccine Global Access (COVAX) facility.

Journalists were included in the 950,000 frontline workers including health workers, security personnel and teachers that are prioritized to benefit in this vaccination.

Speaking to the Acting Commissioner for Health Services in the Ministry of Health, Tabley Basajjatebadiba says that journalists are much considered in this initiative given they are partners in this fight against Covid-19.

He says that by the advice from the representative of journalists on the Covid-19 national taskforce who is also the former Executive Director of the Vision Group Robert Kabushenga, they are strategizing on finding a place in which all journalists will be given their jabs.
