The Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court has fixed March 6, 2024 as the date on which it will commit to the High Court for trial of four suspects accused of killing Senior State Attorney Joan Kagezi.

The suspects have been identified as Daniel Kisekka Kiwanuka, John Kibuuka, Nasur Abdallah Mugongole, and John Musajagge and these face two counts of Terrorism and Murder of Kagezi on March 30th, 2015, at Kiwatule as she was driving home with her children.

These suspects were to be committed today but Prison Officials failed to produce them in court which made the State Prosecutor Tomas Jatiko to ask for their Production Warrant for the purposes of appearing in court and be committed to the High Court for their trial to commence.

Magistrate Erias Kakooza has therefore issued the Production Warrant against them to appear in court on Wednesday this week.

The State has also informed the court that the investigations in this matter are complete.

At the time of her murder by shooting, Kagezi was the lead prosecutor in the 2010 Kampala twin bombings case.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has since started a memorial lecture to remember her life and dedication to serving her country.
