Members of Parliament on the Parliament’s Committee on Public Accounts – Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) have demanded specific roads that are under construction works by Kampala Capital City Authority KCCA.

This was after KCCA Director of Engineering and Technical Services, Justus Akankwasa informed the committee that KCCA has done 70% of works on patching portholes, and repairing of some roads using the authority’s financial year budget of Sh24.9bn which the MPs seemed to doubt.

He says the remaining 30% delayed works were due to the rainy season but assured the committee that by the coming weeks contractors will be back to work.

MPs also raised concern of fear by KCCA failing to spend the balances of the released 24.9bn on their account yet the financial year is soon ending and the money may be returned to the consolidated fund.

In response the ED KCCA Dorothy Kisaka asked for more time to gather the documents about the specific roads worked on which the Chairperson Joel Ssenyonyo granted until the end of today.
