The Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) of parliament has handed over one of the lawyers from the Lubega and Buzibira advocates, Council Kyle Lubega to the parliamentary Criminal Investigations Department -CID.

The legal firm is allegedly accused for having connived and forged legal documents to fraudulently obtain money from Uganda Lands Commission -ULC on behalf of one Natali Namuli.

According to the Auditor General’s report of 2020/2021, Namuli is said to have illegally been paid Shs2.1bn out of the over Shs10bn supplementary budget which was requested by the Ministry of Land.

However when the committee conducted a fact finding tour to Namuli’s place, She denied having received the money nor delegating Lubega & Buzibira advocate to represent her in demanding the compensation from ULC.

Namuli, 79yr old also confirmed to the committee that she was duped by one of the family members to thumb stamp on the land papers she didn’t know or read through.

Speaking to journalists at parliament, the chairperson of COSASE Joel Ssenyonyi said that the committee has written to police to provide security to Namuli as hunt on fraud stars continue until the Shs2.1bn is recovered and the victim also benefits from the money.
