The government chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu has revealed that commercialization of politics is the cause of sleepless nights and temptations among leaders in Uganda.
She says the challenge of commercialization of politics is tricky because it involves the willing giver and taker making it difficult to get a witness in such a case before the courts of law.
Nankabirwa made the statement while attending the breakfast meeting organized by the Alliance for Election Campaign Finance Monitoring (ACFIM) at Kampala Sheraton hotel.
She squarely blamed the voters for leading the politicians into temptation because they ask for money from them even before the politicians are officially in the race of being elected for the posts they desire.
She however accepts that there should be accountability for funds a person invests in the election campaign to minimize on the monetization of elections
