Today is exactly 143 years since the arrival of the White Missionaries who introduced the Catholic faith in Uganda.

Fr Simeon Lourdel alias Mapeera and Bro. Delmas Amans arrived in Bugonga Parish Entebbe at Kigungu landing site on the shores of Lake Victoria on February 17 1879 and since then the Catholic blossomed.

The Archbishop of Kampala His Grace Paul Ssemogerere this Thursday led the Eucharistic Mass at the celebration of the 143 years of faith in Uganda at Kigungu where he has encouraged the youth to take active participation in the Church activities and missionary services.

Archbishop Ssemogerere has also condemned torture that is rampant in the country together with other wrong elements like tribalism, nepotism, corruption and land grabbing which don’t promote brotherhood and sisterhood as preached by God.

This year’s celebration has been animated by Entebbe deanery which selected representatives, and attendance has been by invitation to observe the standard operating procedures against the spread of Covid-19.
