The chief guest for the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Kampala Archdiocese Cardinal Fernando Filoni the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples in the Roman Curia has challenge the youth to pray for discernment (right judgment) in their respective calling.

Cardinal Filoni who is on a three day working visit in Uganda told the youth at YES center in Nsambya that both the Catholic Church and the Country count on them in activity, commitment to service and love to one another.

He said many youth are taken by sensationalism which kills their ability to think and act rightly in productive areas compromising their Vision and future.

Cardinal Filoni said Uganda takes a center stage in the minds of his Holiness Pope Francis and prays for the faith and individual support to evangelization in the region through the intercession of the Uganda Martyrs.

His grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga said YES center was started to help youth encounter Christ though different group prayers, catechesis, culture of pro-life and financial saving for integro-development. They normally pray before the blessed holy sacrament to seek God’s favour, guidance and support.

The Banakizito and Nights of St. Matia Mulumba associations of those below 14 year and those above that age led by Anisha Mwaka from St. Peters of Primary School Nsambya and Agnes Kasule read a number of challenges affecting them; among them; child trafficking, child abuse, poverty, broken families, lack of parental guidance, misguided sexual practices and lack of genuine marriage partners seeking his prayers to overcome them.

From the YES Center Cardinal Filoni paid a courtesy visit to Cardinal Emanuel Wamala at his residence in Nsambya and proceeded to St. Mbagga major seminary where he is to address the Priests and the Religious. Later in the evening he will meet the married couples and commission the newly constructed building that house the Uganda Martyrs the museum, the court, procure and some offices

Tomorrow Saturday Cardinal Filoni will consecrate Munyonyo martyrs shrine and later meet the catechists and teachers. He will also visit the physically handicapped children cared for by the missionaries of the poor at Mutundwe in the outskirts of Kampala Capital City.

On Sunday Cardinal Feloni will lead the Eucharistic celebration at the Uganda martyrs catholic shrine Namugongo before the mass he will first visit the protestant church where a big number of martyrs were killed.
