The Chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference Rt. Rev Bishop Anthony Zziwa has banned holding liturgical activities involving a bigger number of Christians like Stations of the Cross, crusades, workshops and retreats of more than 10 people in these 32 days.

Delivering the Catholic Church guidelines for preventing COVID-19 pandemic today, Bishop Zziwa says that these activities should be conducted to not more than 10 people who can distance themselves as required by the Ministry of Health guidelines.

Bishop Zziwa further calls on the Catholic clergy to limit funeral rights to close relatives and conducting matrimonial sacraments if can’t wait to only close relatives not more than 10 people.

He says that further guidelines for the Holy Week in which Easter and other Holy days will be commemorated, will also be announced in that period since Christians are encouraged to pray on radios at their homes until further notice.

On Wednesday, President Museveni ordered for the closure of schools by March 20th, 2020 and suspended religious gatherings across the country with immediate effect in attempt among the guidelines of preventing the spread of coronavirus.
