The Bishop of Masaka Diocese Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba has challenged Ugandans to grow in faith that they will be able ever to find the right solution to their daily challenges.

Bishop Jjumba says many are still involving in witchcraft because of lack of faith, if they experienced health, financial, love and to some even leadership problems like politicians are seen dashing to shrines that they will get solace from there which is wrong.

He was speaking in relation to a strange disease that erupted in Kasasa, sub county Kyotera district in Ssanje Parish specifically in Kijonjo area where people present with rashes, boils, later swollen body and eventually a person dies. So far 20 people have died since November last year. Health experts are said to have taken samples but no conclusive point has been reached.

Bishop Jjumba was speaking to Christians of Nazareth Parish in Kyotera District one of the last Catholic Parishes near Uganda Tanzania boarder where he paid a pastoral visit to establish how far the parish is doing and the parishioners in their wellbeing and the works of rebuilding the Parish Church that collapsed due to bad weather.

He commended Fr. Pascal Kavuma the Parish Priest for what they are doing to evangelise the peoples. He said the Catholic Church is striving to aquire a modern CT-Scan and an MRI machines in Kitovu hospital to help patients within the area access specialized treatment at an affordable cost.

The chairman LC3 Kasasa Sub county Denis Muyunga has prayed that it would be good to impose quarantine in the area until the cause of the disease is established although health experts led by Dr. Edward Muwanga the DHO Kyotera district insist people should seek early treatment in hospitals rather than resorting to traditional healers who have no solution.
