Uganda’s East African Representatives to EALA have asked the Kenyan government to immediately lift the ban on Uganda’s maize before an economic war is sparked.

These included Paul Musamali, Dennis Namara, and Mary Mugyenyi.

They claim that this is becoming a boiling strategy Kenya is using to continuously ban Ugandan products which started with Poutry products,  Milk, sugar and now maize.

Kenya last week through its director of Agriculture slapped a ban on the exportation of Uganda’s maize to Kenya which has cost farmers losses and over 100 vehicles are parked at the border of Kenya-Uganda boarder.

Now Mps are calling on urgent dialogue amongst the east African leaders or else they are to raise a motion to the East African parliament and also in the committee of East African Trade and Regional Affairs committee.

Besides members of EALA, Uganda’s Parliament also called for intervention to save Uganda, however, the Director of Uganda Cancer Institute, Dr. Jackson Orem says Uganda should tread with caution, arguing that aflatoxins— a type of toxin produced by a fungus that remains on crops, especially maize, when not dried and stored properly is a big threat to Uganda’s effort to prevent liver cancer.
