The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President, Patrick Oboi Amuriat has apologized to party members for welcoming and appointing the Lord mayor Erias Lukwago as his Vice in charge of the Central Region.

His remarks follow the Katonga faction led by the FDC founder member Dr. Kizza Besigye in their extraordinary meeting held this week on September 19th, 2023 chaired by Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa where the party interim leadership led by Lukwago was appointed.

Amuriat says that they didn’t know that Lukwago was machinery appointed to fulfill the Katonga agenda yet he had never mastered how FDC is being run.

He says that the biggest mistake he has done is to fail to implement Dr Besigye’s decisions which promoted the misunderstandings to this level, but Amuriat vowed to remain firm claiming to be the genuine FDC president.

The FDC Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi appealed to members to allow the current leadership conducts its work independently without interruptions since they have been supportive in all the campaigns fronted in the party.

The FDC presidential aspirant Moses Byamugisha who is a close ally to the Katonga faction blamed POA’s faction for failure to manage the current differences in the party.

The internal bickering in the party began when the Katonga FDC faction led by Dr. Besigye pinned the party leadership headquarters led by POA and Mafabi for receiving dirty money from the central government.
