Tax advocates in Uganda under Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) have advised the government to consider allocating the donation money received and saved during the covid19 lockdown.

Since the lockdown in March this year, It’s estimated that government has managed to save over Three trillion shillings from its departments, agencies and ministries from mostly the consumption budget.

Now, the CSBAG National Coordinator Julius Mukunda reminds government to allocate this money to key areas like health, education among others to improve people’s livelihoods.

He further also demands that dormant projects are scrapped of government plans to create space for other programs since they are wastage of taxpayer’s money.

It is reported that government plans to stop over 200 dormant projects, most of which are loan projects.

The country has got 10,590 cases, 6,992 recoveries and 97 deaths as of now.
