Government has resurrected the registration of famers across the country for them to be captured in the economy as legal entities to benefit from Government incentives and plan for the marketing of their products.

The Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Vincent Ssempijja says registration of famers is an important initiative which should be embraced by every famer because it helps government to code important areas in this line like where are the intended consumers, type of chemicals used in the gardens, the quality and quantity of products and marking as well as measuring losses among other benefits but it will also ensure proper monitoring of crops to avoid immature harvests.

Ssempijja says the international market demands a lot from the third world countries over their products and all requirements regarding their production must be proved before they enter their markets hence the need to register all farmers.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Delight Limited, a leading provider of fruit products and promoter of modern agro-business in Uganda that is currently investing in Agricultural Value chains of crops, livestock, fisheries and forestry in Nwoya District and other neighboring districts.

Minister Ssempijja witnessed the signing ceremony in Kampala on behalf of Government and applauded their efforts in eliminating unemployment adding that Government through the Ministry of Finance is going to support this company through improving the roads network in Nwoya district, providing electricity, water among others.
