Parliament has this afternoon turned into a war zone following the suspension of 25 legislatures.

According to our parliamentary reporter the MPs mainly from the Opposition defied the speakers’ orders to leave the parliamentary chamber and used whatever they had to interrupt the sitting which forced the speaker Rebecca Kadaga to suspend them and called off today’s sitting.

The state minister for water Ronald Kibuule is among those suspended for possessing a gun in parliamentary chambers yesterday.

Others on suspension include; Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine (Kyaddondo East), Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West), Monica Amoding (Kumi District), Dr Sam Lyomoki (Workers) Betty Nambooze (Mukono Municipality) Ibrahim Kasozi (Makindye East) , Moses Kasibante (Rubaga North) ,, Francis Zaake, Ibrahim Kasozi, William Nzohgu, Gilbert Oulanya, Muwanga Kivumbi, Barnabas Tinkasimire, Muhammad Nsereko, Angeline Osege, Wilfred Nuwagambe, Odonga Otto, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Mubarak Munyagwa, Gaffa Mbwatekamwa, Roland Mugume, Sam Lyomoki, John Baptist Nambeshe, Joseph Sewungu and Ssegona Lubega

Members were seen hurling insults and trading punches at each other. Chairs initially placed in the corridors to accommodate Independent MPs were used as tools in the fight. Others later blocked the presentation of a motion for the amendment of Article 102 (b) of the constitution to lift the cap on the presidential age.

Yesterday MPs turned unruly after the Clark read the items on the order paper including a proposal by Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi seeking for leave to draft a private members bill for a constitutional amendment of lifting article 102b of the presidential age limit.
