Land owners under their umbrella body “Uganda Land Owners Association (ULOA) has pointed out Corruption in land matters and slow justices in courts of laws as the main cause of land problems in the country.

James Galabuzi Mukasa, the Chairperson of ULOA while addressing the media this Wednesday during their Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Ndeeba, Rubaga Division said that ending rampant land evictions in the country is not easy unless corruption is eliminated as well as expeditious handling of court cases related to land issues.

Galabuzi alluded that neither abolishing mailo land nor removing Buganda Land Board-BLB will help but only politics should be separated from land matters.

He however advises that the government should instead engage land owners to draw lines of how Land lords and tenants can work together for social economic development.

Meanwhile, Galabuzi has condemned Ministry of Lands for allowing issuance of multiple titles to take place in the country and he has advised the government to introduce the system where land owners could be alerted incase their land titles are being tampered with that can eliminate the vice.
