The president Museveni has encouraged local community serving within the transport industry to be the first to interest themselves in the running of the coming bus company dubbed Tugende which is to start its operations in September this year in Kampala.

This has been disclosed by the Minister of Kampala Metropolitan Betty Among while gracing the Mass Transit Bus Service conference held in Kansanga saying that under the presidential directive, Ashok Layland will supply only 980 busses at the beginning and the rest will be produced from here working in partnership with Kiira Motors under the Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) project.

Among called for collaboration with the ministry of transport and all stakeholders who will design a program on how people will be sensitized on the coming transport system in the city, how to start up businesses the industry such as parking yards, setting up enforcement and other feeders to the main roads.

Stephen Mwanje, the Executive Chairman for Tugende said that Tondeka Metro is the transit bus service system utilizing the latest technology to help commuters get the most efficient travel options.
