The State Minister for Refugees and Disaster Preparedness, Musa Ecweru confirms that 90 refugees and community workers in Kyangwali refugee camp testing positive for Covid-19.

Speaking on the sidelines of the stakeholders meeting today in Kampala, Ecweru revealed that the victims have already been isolated and undergoing treatment.

The minister further attributes the outbreak to failure to distribute and fully enforce COVID19 measures in the refugee camps.

Ecweru also cautions Ugandans who have made it a habit to smuggle refugees from DRC into Uganda and resettling them without taking civd19 tests to stop before the law catches up with them.

Uganda houses 1.4 million refugees from neighbouring countries as a result of internal political conflicts.
